Chinese Lion Dancing

We at the academy practice and teach traditional Lion Dancing. This is part and parcel as with most Kung Fu styles.
This ritual or dance is mainly performed at Chinese New Year celebrations to promote prosperity and good luck to businesses in the forthcoming year.
The Lion Dance is also performed at various festivals throughout the years; as well as this a new shop or restaurant may call upon the Lion Dance to open their new business to ward off any possible downfalls or bad luck.

The student when performing the dance takes on the spirit or mood of this mystical creature and throughout the performance it will become more and more obvious to the spectator that the movements initiated by the student are the same as doing an empty hand set or form; the leg manovures and stances used are that of most Shaolin Kung Fu styles ie. Horse Stance, Hanging leg and Crane stance. The more the student puts into the dance the more believable and alive this mystical creature becomes.
